Dear Family and Friends,  
Mario was recently diagnosed with a type of Leukemia called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) which  is most prevalent during childhood and early adulthood, but it also is found in adults.  This type of Leukemia involves an overgrowth of very immature blood cells.   This condition is life threatening because there are not enough mature blood cells to prevent anemia, infection and bleeding.   This is a cancer that can progress quickly which is why treatment has already begun for Mario.   Mario is currently getting treatment at  MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  He has a very long journey ahead of him now, and  will have to be in Houston for his treatment  for at least 6 months.    The main concern at this moment is housing.   There is very little housing near the Medical Center that is affordable or free and there are very, very long waiting lists.  Many applications for financial assistance and housing have been submitted, and for now all we can do is wait.  

Mario has already been released from the hospital and currently living with a family friend.  In our search for longer term housing, we have found an area near the Medical Center for a reasonable cost, but monthly, can add up.   Any help and support you can provide to Mario and his family during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated!  If you are not able to make a financial contribution, we will also take your on-going prayers and support!  Thank you in advance for your help and may God bless you and your families!
