I am posting this GoFundMe in hopes of being able to surprise my Dad with his own business this summer. His name is Jermaine. He is a 45 year old man living in Virginia Beach, VA. He loves the outdoors, all things Football, and most importantly the #1 fan of his 3 kids. He is the most loving, selfless, hard working man I know. 

My dad is always looking out for everyone around him with no expectation for anything in return but this time, I want to do something for him!

As a formerly incarcerated black man, with an incomplete high school education he has struggled since his early twenties to find consistent work or gain access to resources necessary to better his life and his family’s.

In 2017 He was charged with theft by the US government for selling discounted Christmas trees to military moms while managing a Virginia Beach Christmas Tree lot that was in contract with a local Naval base. Even though the lot owner authorized the discounted rate to him directly, this incident caused him to loose his job of over 6 years, serve 30 days in federal jail and added convicted felon to his record… which made it even harder for him to get jobs.

Among several other health issues, he has Epilepsy which in the past caused him to have seizures. For his safety and others, the state of VA took his license and limited his ability to work a full time job doing the things he loves and was good at; Construction, Landscaping, Home Improvement projects, etc. 

His dedication and level of commitment is unmatched! To make ends meet outside of his minimum wage jobs, my dad has been an Independent Landscaping, Home Improvement and Lawn Care Specialist with more than 500 clients over 10 years. During these 10 years of accumulating clients, he has walked, rode a bicycle, or requested rides from family or friends to every single job with a smile still on his face. As you can imagine, not having a vehicle or reliable equipment has put a huge restriction on how efficient and successful his business could grow to be. 

By the grace of God, my dad has been seizure free for more than a year, so he is now eligible to get his drivers license reinstated. He also currently has multiple offers to go into contract with property owners around the region for lawn care and home improvement services, however, no transportation. 

He deserves an opportunity to take control of his life and do something that brings him joy. I’m sure you can tell by now, but I am a daddy’s girl at heart and I am making it my mission to get him whatever he needs to have a fair shot at pursuing his passions just the way he has ALWAYS encouraged and supported me to do so for myself.

The donations raised will be used for the following:

- Purchasing an LLC. and insurance for his business
- Finding him a decent used truck for transportation
- Reliable equipment & gear (tools, machines, protective uniforms, etc.)
- Marketing: website, logo, business cards, etc.
