On Monday 20th July, our lives were turned upside down by the sudden and tragic loss of my brother-in-law, Chris Murton, who passed away from a farming accident at just 41 years old.
Chris was a devoted husband to Carys, his partner of 20 years, and the proud father of five beautiful children aged 14, 10, 9, 6 and 4.
Anyone who knew Chris knew that his children were the light of his life, he used to joke that he'd never stop having kids if he could. No matter the stress he’d faced in a day at work, he used to say that as long as all his children got home at night, nothing else mattered. Every decision he made, every long day he worked, and every sacrifice he made was for Carys and their children.
Chris dedicated his life to farming. It wasn't just his job, it was who he was. He truly embodied what it meant to be a farmer: humble, hardworking and selfless. When he wasn't working, Chris loved spending time with his family, along with shooting and fishing. Whether he was out in the fields or at home with the children, he was happiest surrounded by the people and life he loved most.
Chris's sudden passing has left an unimaginable hole in the lives of everyone who knew him, but especially for Carys and their five children, who are now facing a future without their husband and dad.
No amount of money could ever ease the pain of losing a husband, father, son, brother or friend. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help ease the financial impact of his sudden passing, as the family has lost their main provider. We just want to give Chris the send-off he truly deserves and to support his family as they try to navigate a life they never expected.
If you're unable to contribute, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share this page and keep the Murton family in your thoughts.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support during this heartbreaking time. Together, we can honour Chris's memory by helping to care for the family he dedicated his life to.
Until we meet again, Chris. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
