Support for Chris' Medical Expenses

Hi my name is Kaylee, and I'm asking for help in supporting my "other-mother" Chris.

Chris has spent her life helping everyone around her. Fostering children, babysitting local children, providing monetary and emotional support to everyone who crosses her path. She has been the primary caretaker for several people in her town, and is her mother's number one helper as well. So many people rely on her. If you know Chris, you know she will and does anything and everything for you.

Last week, Chris was rushed to Waverly hospital via ambulance, where they then air-flighted her to Iowa City. She was medically sedated and was sent into emergency surgery. They removed most of her colon and she had become septic. She spent the week in the NICU and recently was moved down to a regular room after FINALLY waking up. Woo! This was great news after not even knowing if she would make it.

Chris is now facing a very long road to recovery. Aside from the surgery costs, she will have to learn how to manage a colostomy bag/buy all the supplies. If she gets better, she will eventually move from the hospital to a rehab center.

In short, she is the best person. Kind, caring, selfless. She has also had a life filled with medical issues. When listing off the amount of surgeries she's had to the doctors they jokingly asked, "oh my gosh is there anything left!?"

I'm asking for your help in alieving some of her burden. Chris has been on medical disability for years and any extra amount of money goes to medical bills and, much too often, to others. She has taken care of so many people, and now it's time for us to return the favor.
