A Message from Carlos's Friends and Colleagues
Our dear friend, Carlos Ortiz, a beloved member of the Boyd Chevrolet team in Hendersonville, North Carolina, is currently facing a significant health challenge.
On December 16th, Carlos was hospitalized at Mission Hospital due to acute kidney failure, a serious condition that requires ongoing dialysis treatment to remove waste from his blood. He is also experiencing:
- Swollen legs and ankles (bilateral lower extremity edema) due to fluid buildup.
- Fatigue and weakness caused by anemia (low levels of red blood cells).
- Difficulty breathing, especially with exertion, which may be a sign of heart problems related to fluid overload.
These complications arose from concerning lab results that indicated potential heart issues, including:
- Low hemoglobin, a sign of anemia.
- Elevated BNP, a marker that can suggest heart problems, particularly when there is fluid overload.
Carlos is not only a valued member of our team, but also a devoted husband and father to two young daughters. This unexpected health crisis has created a significant financial burden for his family as they navigate medical expenses, lost income, and the challenges of daily life.
