Support Eddie Gaines Jr's Road to Recovery

For over 10 years, Eddie worked for the city of Natchez's Public Works Department.

While working, on December 16th, 2023, Eddie experienced restricted mobility and acute back pain. Without help from crew members, he wasn't able to get in and out of his work truck.

Less than a month later, Eddie was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, diabetes, sepsis, and high blood pressure.

Osteomyelitis is inflammation of the bone caused by infection, generally in the legs, arms, or spine. The infection reaches bones by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissues.

In the past 10 months, Eddie has been admitted into 6 different hospitals and seen by numerous experts and physicians. For him, osteomyelitis affected his shoulder and mainly his spine.

Hospitalized for over 6 months, Eddie endured excruciating pain, immobility, MRIs, scans, tests, and 18 weeks of intravenous antibiotic treatments.

Through it all, unwavering faith, love, and support kept him grounded, steadfast, and uplifted. Eddie is not fully recovered and requires nearly 24hour care. Yet, he remains positive and looks forward to greeting and thanking folks personally.

Eddie would like to thank everyone for the many prayers, calls, visits, laughs, encouraging words, and acts of extraordinary kindness.
