hi my name is Eboni, I am writing on behalf of my mum, dad siblings and family to ask for your help..
Our dad, Danny Pitcher, has recently been diagnosed with GBM, an aggressive form of brain cancer, and our world has been turned upside down.
Dad is truly a top bloke—the kind of person who gives without ever expecting anything in return. For more than 15 years, he and Mum have been loving, dedicated foster parents, opening their home and hearts to kids who needed them most. He’s spent countless hours volunteering as a trainer at several local sports clubs, always cheering people on from the sidelines with his trademark encouragement and humour.
Dad has always been a proud family man—never missing a footy game, a dance class, or any moment that mattered. To my friends growing up, he wasn’t just my dad; he was a second dad.
For 30 years, Dad worked at the Sarina Shire / Mackay regional Council, shoulder to shoulder with his lifelong mates. Dad took on his own business venture running the expresso coffee van, getting to know all the locals, and sharing his love of coffee with our family.
dads final career move was to Elgas as a truck driver / gas fitter, he made a great first his team and this was where he planned to retire from when he was ready.
His prognosis is heartbreaking: 6 weeks to 6 months. Despite this, Dad is determined to pursue treatment for as long as he can.
This diagnosis has forced Dad into early retirement, robbing him of the simple joys he was looking forward to—travelling, caravanning, and enjoying the slower pace he had more than earned.
We are asking for support to help Mum care for him during this time And most importantly, giving Dad the chance to make beautiful memories and have one hell of a Christmas surrounded by family, without the crushing financial stress that cancer brings.
Dad has spent his entire life giving to others. Now, in the time we have left, we’re hoping for a little help to give back to him.
