Support Our Mom's Heart Transplant Journey

We, Carlton and Christian, are the sons of the strongest woman we know. Our mother has endured a lot during her life but a heart transplant has by far been the hardest challenge she has faced. She was diagnosed with Congestive heart failure while giving birth to me (Christian), nearly losing her life. By the grace of God, she has lived with this condition for years, battling with major symptoms and setbacks.

With the due diligence of her cardiac team, she was advised to see a cardiac geneticist as medicine did not seem to be as effective any longer. It was discovered in December of 2023, that she had a specific LMNA gene mutation which causes a variety of congenital disorders. Two weeks later, in January 2024, she suffered a deadly arrhythmia. She literally dropped dead while entering a store and was thankfully saved by her implanted ICD Cardiac Defibrillator. However, during the fall she hit her head and developed a subarachnoid hemorrhage. She spent most of January in the hospital. Her heart was struggling to rebound from the catastrophic event as she had entered end stage heart failure. Her only saving grace would be a heart transplant.

On June 1, 2024, God answered our call. They found a heart! She received a life-saving heart transplant but the battle to recovery has only begun. She is still in the hospital fighting against any possible rejection. As you can imagine, this will be a very emotionally, physically, and financially daunting year ahead of us. My father will have to step away from work for a while to be her caretaker as she cannot be left alone.

We are asking for any help you are willing to provide to help offset costs for her very expensive lifetime medications, weekly hospital visits, hospital stays, continuous procedures, weekly diagnostic testing, loss of income, and other financial obligations.
