Support Charlyn's Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer

On August 30th, 2024 Charlyn Whiting went into the ER to address pain and discomfort she had been having in her chest that accompanied some indigestion and bloating. Upon doing a CT scan, the doctors found cancer that had spread from her breasts to her liver, bones, and her brain. This day was hard for her and her family. It was unexpected, scary, and laced with uncertainty about what this would mean for them.

After this initial finding, Charlyn was able to get into other doctors and began a series of tests. It was confirmed that it was Stage 4 breast cancer, Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. This finding was followed by many biopsies, MRIs, ultrasounds, and various other tests. A treatment plan was developed that included hormone therapy, whole brain radiation due to increased spreading in the brain, and eventually chemo.

This impact is compounded by her husbands unemployment. With the ever-changing employee needs in the software industry and his nearing retirement it has been harder and harder to find a company that is willing to hire him. Though this has been helpful in caring for Charlyn at this time, it is an overall challenge for the family.
