Dear friends from Rochester NY and beyond,
As we approach the end of another year, I'm reaching out to share some exciting news about Behind the Glass Gallery.
For almost three years now, we've been showcasing the incredible talent of underrepresented artists in our beloved, imperfect city of Rochester. Every month, fellow curators Quajay Donnell, Rob Bell and I have proudly introduced downtown Rochester to artists from our inner circles, creating a vibrant space for creativity and connection.
In the span of the BTG's existence, we have been nominated "Rochester's Best Art gallery" 2 times along side some very well known local galleries.
We are DRIVEN by our mission of Community over Competition. Our actions reflect this.
We have a coinciding podcast where you get to here how our artists started their endeavors.
We work to not repeat our artist's and continue to only showcase those that are underrepresented / artists with minimum exposure.
We are a team of ONLY three curators with full time jobs and families who commit to this gallery for FREE.
To celebrate our 3 year journey and the amazing artists we've featured, we're planning a special reception on Friday, January 16th, 2025.
We're bringing back all artists from our 2025 exhibitions for one last reception!
Just as we have done in years prior, our reception will feature work from each artist that was part of our gallery.
IN ADDITION
We wanted to celebrate every BEHIND THE GLASS Artist from Year 1 and 2 also by creating a "Behind the Glass 3 year anniversary " zine.
We will have a dedicated page profiling every artist we have featured here in our gallery.
To make this vision a reality, we need your support. Your generous contribution will help cover the costs of framing, printing, mounting, installation, our year 3 zine and all the details that go into creating this extraordinary event.
By supporting Behind the Glass Gallery, you're not just helping to fund a reception; you're investing in the artistic spirit of our community and ensuring that these talented individuals receive the recognition they deserve.
Community over Competition has been showcased every year through your support...
We are hoping you can help us a third time
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We can't wait to celebrate with you on January 16th.
Warmly,
Richard B. Colon, Quajay Donnell, Rob Bell
