**Help Us Make Butch and Eric's Home Safe**

 

We need your help. Our team at Focal Point Remodeling is joining forces with incredible community volunteers to make updates to a home for two amazing people: Butch and his son Eric.

 

Butch is a Veteran who served our country for nearly 13 years, including 4 years in combat supply during the Vietnam War. He devoted his life to our nation, and that service came at a personal cost—Butch now suffers from various health challenges linked to Agent Orange exposure, diabetes, and crippling arthritis. Butch relies on the help of a cane or a walker to help with mobility.  Butch has fallen a handful of times, specifically in the shower, and has had to call the paramedics to help him back to his feet. On top of his own physical ailments, Butch endured the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Cheryl, five years ago, after she fought cancer three times. Additionally, Butch has needed to care for his adult son, Eric, who has an intellectual disability.  Over the years, without the help of Cheryl and with Butch’s physical limitations, the home has fallen in to some disarray which has created some safety concerns for Butch and Eric in their everyday life. Despite the difficulties, Butch and Eric remain joyful and resilient, sharing stories of camping, fishing, and cherished family memories. They deserve a safe place to call home, where Butch can more easily use his walker, where Eric can move around securely, and where daily life doesn’t bring additional pain and challenges.

 

Focal Point Remodeling had an all hands meeting with employees where many volunteered their time to help with various projects needed at Butch and Eric’s home. As an organization, we have pledged to replace the entire bathroom and we are working on getting additional product donations from vendors to fullfill the other remodeling needs, some listed below: 

 

- Repair the Subflooring: Their floors have holes, making every step hazardous.

- Replace the Deck and Build a Ramp: Butch relies on a walker and needs a safe way in and out of his home.

- Replace their broken entry door

-Address their non-functioning kitchen range

-Replace a refrigerator covered in mold

 

We are also collecting financial donations to supplement the material donations we are requesting. Every donation goes directly toward giving Butch and Eric a safer, more livable home. No contribution is too small. Together, let’s give Butch and Eric a fresh start, a safe haven, and a comfortable home where they can continue to share their stories and create new memories.
