Support Mia’s NICU Journey and Madi’s Funeral Expenses

Hi my name is Alayna Rhodes. I am the mom of Di/Di Twins Mia & Madi. On June 18th I was admitted to Magee Womans Hospital where I had a Cervical Cerclage placed due to the doctors finding I was already 4cm dilated with only 6mm left of my cervix. I was sent home after the procedure with limited activity restrictions in an attempt to keep the babies stable and developing in the womb. On July 3, I was admitted to Magee for bleeding/contractions. My cerclage failed. This is the day I found out that I wouldn’t be leaving Magee until the birth of my twins. Baby A (Mia) was already in the Vaginal canal, head down and ready to come out. Baby B (Madi) was positioned above her but in a breach position.

On July 5th, at only 23+6weeks pregnant, I gave birth vaginally to Mia who weighed 1lb 8oz and 11.4in long. Madi was born 25 minutes later by C section weighing 1lb 6oz and 11.4in long. Both girls are requiring oxygen tubes and oxygen but are currently stable. There is further testing being done that will show us how the girls are progressing and what interventions are going to be needed. Regardless our journey will be long and at the moment it is unclear. They both will require months of care and recovery time in the NICU unit where I will also be spending most, if not all of my days committed to my daughters’ full development and recovery.
