1795 Academy: Continuing YaYa’s Legacy — Educating, Healing & Growing Together

Hi, my name is Durell T. Scott Sr., founder of 1795 Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. This GoFundMe is dedicated to the memory of YaYa, a grandmother whose love and kindness changed countless lives.

“YaYa’s Vision: The 1795 Academy Education & Healing Initiative”

YaYa loved planting flowers and trees, feeding the homeless, and helping anyone in need always without asking for recognition. After losing her to COVID-19, I made it my mission to carry on her spirit through education, community care, and acts of love.

Through this fundraiser, we’re raising $100,000 to continue YaYa’s legacy by:

Donating thousands of children’s learning books to schools, daycares, and families across the U.S.

Hosting back-to-school and community drives to provide book bags, school supplies, and learning kits.

️ Launching “Meals of Love” events to feed the homeless and families in need.

Organizing youth-led community cleanups and tree/flower planting projects that teach kids to love and protect the environment.

Creating a youth program called “One Moment, One Choice” to help stop violence among youth and adults.

Providing technology and learning materials to help kids grow in and out of the classroom.

Offering a Free Workshop Program for Young Adults & Parents to help single parents, two-parent homes, and young adults overcome challenges like childhood trauma, financial stress, and mental health struggles. This program will include:

• Grant-finding resources and funding tools

• Credit help and financial education

• Mental health awareness and support sessions

• Career and life skills training

Through 1795 Academy Publishing, we’ve created beautiful children’s books that inspire learning and creativity, and these will be part of every donation we make:

How You Can Help

Every donation big or small helps us continue YaYa’s mission of love, learning, and giving back:

$5 — Prints and donates one children’s book to a child in need.

$10 — Provides crayons or art supplies for a daycare activity.

$25 — Provides a book and a meal for a child or homeless neighbor.

$50 — Supports a small classroom with multiple learning books.

$100 — Funds a classroom set of educational materials and supplies.

$250 — Sponsors a local “Plant Hope” clean up and tree planting event.

$500 — Expands outreach with 50+ books donated to schools and daycares.

️ $1,000 — Sponsors a full “Meals of Love” community day to feed families and the homeless.
