I'm a British Mountain Guide based in the French Alps. In January 2027 I am going to be swapping the high mountains for the wide ocean and taking on possibly the toughest challenge of my life. Leaving from Portugal, I will be rowing solo across the Atlantic to French Guyana in South America.
This journey of 6000km will take 2-3 months. The route is seldom travelled, with most rowers taking the shorter route from the Canaries to the Caribbean. Extreme weather, huge waves and sharks will be just some of the challenges along the way.
A solo independent row is even more serious, with no safety boat, and no other crew members to rely on. That's why I'm planning so meticulously. Professional coaching, a first class boat, and rugged kit and supplies are what will get me through this. However, none of these things come cheaply.
I have already purchased a boat from my own funds, and now need to raise money to cover further training, equipment purchase, food, shipping, flights, communications equipment etc etc
This journey will also be raising money for two very worthwhile charities: The Martin Moran Foundation and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Please join me in my quest to row solo across the Atlantic and give as much or as little as you can afford.
If you can, consider donating £250. It will really make a difference.
