Help Steve, Kailey, Layla and Landyn after devastating fire.
Donazione protetta
In the early hours of March 20 a devastating fire ripped through the St. Catharines home of Steve and Kailey.
The were awoken by the continous barking from their dog and guardian angle Luna.
Kailey jumped out of bed and looked out the windows to see the entire back portion of their home engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
They managed to get everyone to the front door but when Steve turned around he noticed Luna wasn't with them and ran back in for her.
When Kailey opened the front door, the back door blew off and all the windows shattered nearly injuring Steve. He managed to shut the basement door where Luna and the cats were hiding before escaping to safety. This quick thinking likely saved the lives of their cats and hero dog Luna.
Fortunately their 2 children Landyn aged 7 and Layla aged 4 were not home at this time.
While the family and all their animals made it to safety they lost everything they owned in this fire, from clothing, furniture, irreplaceable family heirlooms, keepsakes for their children and things passed down from their late grandparents.
The family is currently staying in a spare bedroom with family while keeping a positive outlook to rebuild their lives once they can find stable housing.
Due to financial hardships they cancelled their renters insurance meaning they now have no choice but to start from scratch. They no doubt have a very long road ahead of them.
Anything you can give to help relieve some of the financial burden this tragedy has caused will go a long way to helping this family rebuild their lives.
