Steph's Battle with Liver Failure
It is with a heavy heart, much reflection and contemplation that I have decided to start this page. I have been in and out of hospitals and doctors offices for several years. In September 2016 I was taken by ambulance to BAMC. I had hepatic encephalopathy (loss of brain function when a damaged liver doesn't remove toxins from the blood). I woke up 3 days later with my parents, my sister and my husband at my bed. I do not remember those 3 days. I was told I had 3 months to live if I did nothing. Over the past several months I have been inundated doctor's visits and medication however I am still waiting to start the transplant process. All and all I was in the hospital for over 28 days. My Tommy never left my side and as you can imagine this has caused enormous emotional stress as well as financial burden. As many of you know I have four children my son Cole will be 22 years old this year and is expecting a baby with my daughter in law Angelica in July. I can't wait to be a grandma. Aiden is in 7th grade and is going to be a teenager in a few weeks. Bryce is 8 years old and is in third grade and then of course there's my little princess Haven who is 4 years old . I have an extensive support system in Albuquerque New Mexico and in Austin Texas I love all my family and wouldn't be on this journey doing so well without that love and support they give me . I was lucky enough to have my mom move in with me from Albuquerque to help take care of the kids, me and my household in between hospitalizations. Cole also has made several trips from Albuquerque to San Antonio to see me which is such a great comfort. I am obviously still undergoing treatment by several doctors and having frequent testing done. My goal is to be the mom I used to be and be active and stop being sad all the time I just want to feel and most importantly I find a liver. Thank
you for all your love and support please start a prayer chain for me. God bless!

Finally home from the hospital and enjoying my kitten Gizmo
Looking much better this month. My husband Tommy is the epitome of a man who provides support and love in sickness and in health. He is my rock! My profile picture is one year ago this month.
