Steph's Road to Recovery

Donazione protetta
Wait! Before you glaze over yet another sad story trying to raise money, consider who it's for... And who's asking... I'm an admitted GoFundMe skeptic, and Stephanie is waaaaay too proud to ask for help like this.

Last June, Steph had a CT scan that revealed a mass near her colon and was scheduled for surgery. Unfortunately, that surgery never happened. Over the next few months Steph continues to suffer abdominal pain with intermittent fevers.

Fast forward to Christmas when the pain became nearly unbearable. Her stubbornness held out until the 28th when she finally went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital. Test after test after procedure after yet more blood work provided no answers, and no relief. They couldn't isolate the source of her fevers, couldn't get the fevers under control. And surgery was off the table until she was fever free or 24 hours. She was on liquid nutrition because she was deficient on everything... (resisting the urge to make a joke here guys...) On to hospital number 2...

They *finally* got the fever under control and were able to perform surgery. When the surgeons got in there, there was a lot going on. It comes down to wide spread endometriosis and her colon trying to eat her appendix. They removed a large portion of her colon and did some biopsies. She is going to be on a high dose of antibiotics for the next year in addition to all the lifestyle changes this is going to force on her.

She was finally released from the hospital on January 26th, much to the joy of the physical therapists assigned to her following her surgery (Have you ever woken Steph up? Well they did, and they learned why we don't do that.)

I'm happy to share that the biopsies were all negative for malignancies. (Hoorah!) But she has a long road ahead. The humorous quips aside, this is tough on everyone involved. Steph is trying to go back to work but they are getting behind on bills. She can't rush the healing process, but we all know she's going to try. Her family and Mimi are doing what they can, but this is where we need to step in and help. I'm asking for your help raising $6000. This is roughly 3 months worth of bills for them. We will help them get caught up and maybe get one step ahead so they can focus on getting Steph healthy.

If you want to help in some other way, let me know or reach out to Steph's mom, Debbie (don't act like you aren't already friends with her on Facebook... we all are...).

Steph is very proud and I know she won't necessarily be a fan of this... but she needs us whether she wants to admit it or not. Please consider helping her out on her road to recovery.

Thanks.
