My cousin, Stefanie, has sustained a life-changing injury at age 43. Please consider supporting her on her recovery journey…
At the end of July, Stefanie traveled to San Antonio to lead a Human Resources seminar for work. On July 27, she fell and suffered a spinal cord injury and is currently paralyzed from the chest, down. She was taken to University Hospital in Texas where she has undergone several surgeries and dozens of procedures to mitigate life threatening conditions. She spent 29 days in the intensive care unit to stabilize her condition. Stefanie has now been moved to a long term acute care unit where they will continue to focus on rehabilitation and recovery. She and Marscilla have remained in Texas for continuity of care but being so far away from their friends and family during such a trying time has definitely added a layer of complication and heartache. Stefanie is fighting daily to make progress and gain strength. She has some sensation in her right arm but she is unable to move her arms, hands, legs or feet. Marscilla hasn’t left her side and she encourages Stefanie to continue pushing herself every day. They are both looking forward to the day when Stefanie can be transported to Ohio and they can finally come back home. At present, she and Marscilla are preparing for significant changes to how they live their daily lives. They are faced with compounding medical expenses, necessary home and living accommodations and modifications, therapy and rehabilitation, not to mention loss of income. Stefanie and Marscilla need all the support they can get on this journey of rehabilitation and recovery. Thank you so much ❤️
