Stef cops pink dusty mullet to support childcare
Doação protegida
Hey all you cool cats and kittens! This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy in to a share of making me look like an absolute fool. Read on...
As we all know, COVID-19 has had difficult impacts on a lot of businesses. Childcare centres are among those affected, as many parents have (understandably) kept their kids home and the funding model has dramatically changed.
My name is Stef Presswell and my child goes to a not-for-profit Childcare Centre in the Canberra region. I won't name the Centre for privacy reasons, but we adore it. They are operating with reduced funding and under the haze of uncertainty that this hideous virus has brought. Their staff are dedicated, self-sacrificing and amazing, and I want to do what is in my power to support them through this time.
So, here is my offer. In exchange for your generous support, I will:
* post a video of my hair being bleached, dyed and shaved into a pink dusty mullet to Facebook. My unwilling accomplice/stylist has told me at least twenty times that this is a terrible idea, but agreed to do the deed; and
* rock the mullet for a full week. Note that this will include full-time work, video conferences, childcare drop-offs and pick-ups, any supermarket shopping, etc. No way will my husband (not amused) nor my boss (extremely amused) let me shirk my responsibilities or hide off camera.
Further requests, including but not limited to those relating to having my husband's or anyone else's name sharpied onto my neck, will be entertained depending on how much $$ you're offering in exchange for what's left of my dignity.
100% of funds raised will go directly to the Centre to assist with their running costs - I will provide full evidence of this.
I'd like to fundraise for a week or so before humiliating myself publicly. If this gets off the ground it will mean the world to me. If my looking like a fool for a week can raise much needed funds for an organisation I care deeply about, and support the staff who tirelessly give so much of themselves day in and day out to look after our little ones, then it's a small price to pay.
