Start a Business to Help Orphans in Pakistan

Hi! My name is Lynette Nelson. I am part of Living Water Ministry in Pakistan. We have an urgent need that God has put on my heart to accomplish, but I need your help.

These children, Helen, Salman, and Stephen (pictured here with my friend Sharon who leads LWMP), were tragically orphaned this last year. They are currently being passed from household to household because no one part of the family can afford to support them. They have an uncle who loves them, and wants to give them a permanent home, but he is struggling to provide for his own family. This is an URGENT need! The children recently returned to their uncle’s home from another family, and they are traumatized, malnourished, and there is evidence they have been beaten.

God has put these children on my heart, to find a way to help their whole family thrive. In the area of Pakistan where they live, the only employment available is as a day laborer, and with the beginning of monsoon season, that is even more unreliable than usual. Working with Sharon and the children’s uncle, we created a business plan that would provide for their family and allow the children to live with them as a permanent loving home, AND benefit the community around them! But we need your help to get them started.

Their rural village has no local access to fresh produce because very little grows there. Women frequently walk a long ways to get produce, which is unsafe and takes a lot of time. With no refrigeration, the produce doesn’t stay fresh, so they often do without. Our goal is to raise $1,500 for start up costs so the family can open a produce shop to serve their community! We are SO excited about this idea because it helps the children, their uncle’s family, and the ENTIRE COMMUNITY! This will provide local access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and hopefully pave the way for more employment opportunities in the village.

Any amount helps! Jesus taught us to care for widows and orphans, and anyone who is vulnerable and in need. This is the work we are ALL called to, and I know that together we can give these precious children a chance to thrive!

I am on the board of Living Water, and have been working with them for several years. I will personally be sending the funds and covering fees so that 100% of the funds given will go directly to the family to cover start up costs. Sharon will be helping mentor the family with the skills to sustainably run their business. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for these children, and their community!
