Since 2008, Simon Hradecky has done something almost nobody else in the world does. Day after day, alone, he has documented aviation incidents and accidents with no sensationalism and no agenda (just what happened), what the investigators found, and what the industry can learn from it. Tens of thousands of occurrences, followed for years, corrected whenever better information arrived. The Aviation Herald has become a daily working reference for pilots, engineers, controllers, investigators, and safety departments on every continent.

It was never a business empire. It is one man, a small operation in Salzburg, and an extraordinary sense of duty toward safety culture.

That work has now come at an enormous personal cost. A long legal dispute over one of his reports (a matter that is now closed) left Simon with legal expenses he had to pay entirely out of his own pocket, with no insurance behind him. To settle them, he sold the apartment he had lived in for 41 years and moved into his office.
