Stacy's Journey: So folks, this is it, the next major hurdle on my crazy cancer journey.
As most of you are aware, I am a self-employed family law attorney. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in December 2015. The cancer had spread to my liver.
Most of 2016 was spent in the new world of MedicalCareVille…a place that no sane person ever wants to venture…but a place that we will all surely drive by or through in our life time. Chemotherapy, radiation, hospital visits and surgery consumed my life. I had to majorly reduce my work hours and my client load due to hospital visits and extreme fatigue. All of my business and personal savings and credit cards are tapped.
I am now at the stage where I am scheduling my liver surgery...likely in June…and I have to come up with a means to keep my life running...my personal expenses like my mortgage and car payment…and the expenses of my office so that I can keep the doors open and the staff paid…and pay the overwhelming medical deductible.
And that is why I am turning to my community to help keep things balanced the next few months...
