My name is Ingrid McLeish-Dyer (also known as Simone McLeish), and I am reaching out to you today from the United States with an urgent plea for the people of Thornton and its surrounding communities in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. While I no longer reside there myself, my heart remains deeply connected to this resilient community that I once called home. We are facing an unprecedented crisis in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, and the devastation to homes and lives in Thornton has been immense, leaving many without the most basic necessities.
The road to full rebuilding is long, but our immediate priority is clear: providing urgent relief to our neighbors in Thornton and surrounding areas who have lost everything. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to directly address the most critical needs of our most vulnerable residents in the aftermath of this devastating hurricane, specifically within Thornton and its neighboring villages.
Hurricane Melissa has left families in Thornton and nearby communities without food, clean clothing, and basic shelter. The destruction is widespread, and the impact on those with the fewest resources is heartbreaking. From my home here in the U.S., I feel compelled to mobilize support to bring life-sustaining aid directly to those who need it most, right now, within Thornton and its adjacent communities.
Your generous donation will be used with the utmost care and focus to provide essential items such as food, clothing, linen, and medical supplies.
St. Elizabeth is a place of strength and unity, and right now, that unity is our greatest asset. We are counting on each other and on the kindness of compassionate individuals like you, wherever you may be. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will make a profound difference in the lives of people who have lost so much.
Thank you for your incredible support! I'm committed to ensuring every dollar raised makes a direct and meaningful impact. To that end, I will personally be traveling to Jamaica by the end of November 2025 to distribute the funds.
During my trip, I will be focusing my relief efforts on the victims in Thornton and surrounding communities within St.
Elizabeth. My plan is to use the collected cash to directly purchase essential items such as food, clothing, and other necessities for those most in need. I will also be allocating funds to assist with vital house repairs that are crucial for the well-being of these families.
I will be withdrawing and managing the funds myself to ensure they reach the intended recipients efficiently and effectively. I will be delivering the aid in person while on the ground in Jamaica.
Your contributions will go directly towards tangible relief for these specific communities. Thank you for helping me make a difference.
