St Albans to install a fire safety system & repair the roof

Your local church needs you! As you are probably very aware, churches are in constant need of maintenance and repair, and St Albans Church is no different. We have some roof repair work needing to be undertaken, and a new fire safety system installing. These are major works and come at a considerable cost.

We need to raise a whopping £10,000 and we need your help to do that. Over the next few months you'll be seeing some exciting events and fundraising efforts in church, please do attend and show your support if you're able. We know times are tough but anything you can contribute would be massively appreciated. The church is a big part of Forest Town and we want to be able to keep everybody safe and continue to be a pillar in the community.

About the project

St Albans Church is a very busy church and the number attending both for worship services, community groups and private hire has increased steadily since the pandemic.

Alongside our regular services we host; prayer group, bereavement group, bible study, weekly coffee morning, welcome group plus a whole host of other regular and one off events. Everybody is welcome in our church.

Due to the increasing numbers, we have recently had the fire service visit us and hired a professional company to do a Fire Risk Assessment. Both said we need Emergency Lighting, Heat and Smoke detectors. Since we have had the Fire Assessment done we have been endeavouring to obtain quotes for this vital work which really needs carrying out as soon as possible.

In view of the varying uses of Church the requirements of the Fire Risk Assessment have to be carried-out. The major “hurdle” we face is of course the cost of the work.

In addition to this, we need some vital repair work done to the fabric of the building to ensure rain ingress doesn't continue to occur. The church serves as a marker for the village of Forest Town, a silhouette as you enter the village and does require upkeep.

Any assistance you are able to give us in this respect would be very much appreciated to ensure the safety of the users and the continued maintenance of our fabulous Church in Forest Town.
