Rose's Eye Surgery

Hello, my name is Rochelle. I am the daughter of Doug and Rose Dalager. In 2019, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She had numerous surgeries to remove the cancer; however, it kept coming back. In the summer of 2019 my mom had her eye removed. Soon after she went through intense radiation. Ever since her eye removal, my mom, has had tremendous pain. The pain was so debilitating, most days she could not get out of bed. She had many doctor visits, which left us hopeless with trying to fix it. Recently she went in for a CT to make sure the cancer was gone. THANKFULLY she is cancer free! Unfortunately, the radiation killed her bone around her eye and left the dead bone exposed.

Rose & Doug felt it was time for another opinion about the debilitating pain. In August a doctor from Mayo was willing to do another surgery to help alleviate the pain. They scheduled the surgery on December 7th, 2021.

On December 7th, Rose went into a 9 hour surgery. She took a while to wake up and move out of recovery. An unexpected turn occurred within the 48 hours after her surgery. Rose had a blood clot. They rushed her into surgery. On the way to the OR the doctor had to cut her throat open to remove a blood clot. They were able to remove it, she had about 5 drain ports coming out of her face. Shortly after that surgery, they rushed her in again because the skin they connected did not attach.

On December 20th, Rose was taken in for another surgery. The skin they sewed on died. They had originally took a piece of skin from her inner thigh. Now, they used a synthetic skin. They stapled a sponge around her eye. She is very badly bruised from her face to her chest from the blood clot.

On December 28th she will have another surgery to see if the surgery is working or if they need to move to plan c.

We were not expecting my mom to be in the hospital for this long. My dad has used all of his vacation time. The hospital does not allow overnight visitors, so my dad has been staying in a hotel. He has spent an incredible amount of money on a hotel. With his vacation being over, I'm hoping this GoFundMe will allow my dad to be able to stay with my mom and medical expenses for Rose. He is getting too old to be driving to and from Mayo everyday.
