Spruce up the planters on Rosendale Road

We are two local residents who enjoy gardening, Suzi Hutson (Chatsworth Way) and Andrew Hanson (Eastmearn Road). The planters on Rosendale Road, outside the Southern shopping parade, need some love. They were initially maintained by Father Nature, via a contract with Lambeth Council, but that has now expired. It's therefore now up to residents and business owners to keep them looking nice.

Suzi is in her final year of professional training in Garden Design. She has produced a planting plan for the two raised planters at either end of the parade (on the corners with Eastmearn Road and Idmiston Road). We've aimed for something that will look good all year round, be drought tolerant and last. Details further down if you are curious.

We would appreciate contributions towards the cost of buying the plants + compost + delivery. We are asking here for what we estimate the total cost would be. As soon as we see that the target is reached, we will stop accepting further donations. If we are left with a small excess we would save it towards replacing any plants as needed in the future. The plants will be planted through chicken wire to try and deter theft. We plan to do this planting in late September, once the weather is cooler. We have been in touch with Lambeth Council and they are aware of our plans and have encouraged them. Andrew has signed up as a “Neigbourhood Champion”, as a way of gaining information and keeping them informed.
