SPINA BIFIDA & DYLAN'S DREAM TO WRITE A BOOK
Donation protected
My name is Dylan McLoughlin and I’m from Galway. I’m 26 and live at home with my parents.
I have spina bifida and in a wheelchair so every day is a challenge but I’m not one to complain or sit in the corner waiting for things to happen. Two years ago I started writing and today I’m a contributor to the University of Galway student newspaper (SIN) and the Galway Advertiser.
My column is called ‘Dylan Meets’ where I interview well known personalities from the world of sport, politics, business and entertainment. I have interviewed Michael Lyster (RTE/The Sunday Game), Damien Browne (who rowed single handily across the Atlantic Ocean), Amy Croffey (Emmy Award winner, CNN) & Damien Comer (Galway GAA & All-Star Footballer) just to name a few.
I am now turning the series into a book which will be launched at the Galmont Hotel & Spa on Friday, May 24th, 2024 at 8pm. All are welcome. To edit, print and publish a book of this nature costs money so I’m looking for some help. Any support would be hugely appreciated. Proceeds will also go to Spina Bifida Ireland & the Irish Kidney Association.
I never thought I’d be published never mind write my first book. Somebody once said ‘if your dream doesn’t scare you then its not big enough’ – this is my dream and it’s scary but hugely exciting too.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, I really appreciate it.
Kindest regards,
Dylan
