Spelman Student Tuition Assistance Needed

Hello everyone! My name is Jordan Paster and I am a Junior at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Biology, Pre-Med. My goal, post-graduation, is to become a practicing OB-GYN physician. 

The costs associated with continuing at Spelman College have presented a financial hindrance. Being proactive, I have applied for additional scholarships, requested additional aid from the financial aid office, and have sought after numerous opportunities to close this financial gap. Even after these efforts, I still have a balance of $7,672 for the Spring 2021 semester.

As a child, visits to the pediatrician, orthodontists, and dentist were important events. I’d attend to my hair and clothes, and travel to the appointment in anticipation. I loved the interaction with my doctors because they looked like me. All I could see were African American women who exemplified everything I wanted to be professionally. I understood medicine as an act of service, which eventually aligned with my values, and became my dream. 

Now a junior, biology major on the pre-medical tract, I am taking the steps to make my dream become my reality. I currently work full time as a medical assistant within a COVID-19 testing facility which has only intensified my passion for the field of medicine and public service. 

I have created this GoFundMe to ask for your financial support of $7,672, in continuing my education at Spelman College. Any amount you are able to donate is appreciated. I understand  we are currently in unprecedented times which has caused a financial strain too many, however I have come so far in my matriculation at Spelman College and I am determined to make it to the finish line.
