The Space Virgins need your help!
Over the last couple years, camp attendance has declined sharply. This means that we have collected a lot less money in dues than we did in the past. The dues have been enough to cover on-playa costs, but there are costs that continue to add up all year.
As a result of that, one of our members has been forced to pay for the storage locker where all our camp gear is stored out of his own pocket. We are very grateful to him for doing this, but in the spirit of communal effort, we would like to raise the money to reimburse him for costs incurred so far. We would also like to cover the cost of continuing to rent the locker until August 2019.
The camp funds stopped covering the locker back in January 2018. From then until October 2018, we were charged $200/month (total of $2000). Our rent went up to $280/month after that, so we were charged another $1120 from November 2018 to February 2019. That means we need to raise $3120 just to cover what has already been paid. We plan on keeping the locker until we head back to playa in August, so we will also need another $1680 to cover the next 6 months (March to August).
Anything we raise beyond the goal of $4800 will go to the camp's coffers, hopefully helping to prevent an issue like this from arising in the future.
We understand that everyone is in a different place financially, so please don't feel pressured to donate. Anything you can afford will be greatly appreciated, and will help the Space Virgins continue their 25 year history of creating a welcoming community.
