BBA - Skipton Girls’ High School 10K Sponsored Walk
On Wednesday 2nd July, students, staff, and friends of Skipton Girls’ High School will take part in a 10K sponsored walk to raise funds for two important campaigns that are especially close to the heart of our school’s community.
This event is not only a chance to come together in support of meaningful causes, but also a celebration of compassion, resilience, and the power of collective action—reflecting our school’s core values of Care, Curriculum, Cultivation, and Community.
The Be More Laura Foundation
This powerful and inspiring charity was created in memory of Laura Nuttall, a former student at Skipton Girls’ High School, who passed away in 2023 after bravely facing glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.
The foundation continues Laura’s legacy by:
Raising awareness of brain tumour symptoms and the importance of early diagnosis.
Funding pioneering research into treatments, including clinical trials like ASTROCRAT at the University of Leeds.
Supporting families and patients affected by brain cancer, offering hope and practical help.
By supporting this charity, students are not only honouring a much loved former student but also engaging with a curriculum that extends beyond the classroom—one that fosters empathy, social responsibility, and real-world impact.
Creating a Nurture Room
The second campaign will fund the creation of a Nurture Room within H1 — a calm, supportive environment where students can go to feel safe, reflect, and receive emotional support. This space will promote mental well-being, resilience, and inclusion, helping every student thrive both emotionally and academically.
This initiative embodies our commitment to Care, providing a space where students are nurtured and supported. It also reflects our dedication to Cultivation, as we help young people grow into confident, compassionate individuals who are equipped to face life’s challenges.
