This fundraiser supports the Garvan Institute, whose research is helping improve the diagnosis and treatment of disease, including heart conditions. Through advances in genomics, precision medicine and cardiovascular research, Garvan is making a real difference in the lives of patients and families affected by heart disease.

For Skibuts, this cause is deeply personal. Heart of the Mountain x Retro Boogie is held each year in honour of former president Josh Avvenevole, who unexpectedly passed away due to a heart condition. Josh’s passing not only deeply impacted our community, but also reminded us of how many individuals and families are affected by heart disease. This event is our way of remembering Josh, celebrating his life, and coming together to support research that can change lives.
