I'm going on a 6 month missions trip. 3 months at a Discipleship Training School in Kona (largest YWAM base) with a track emphasis of music. Last 3 months in an international country evangelizing and participating in humanitarian work. Any and all support makes a world of difference! Thank you <3
PERSONAL STORY/DETAILS:
I’m so excited to share I’m going on a 6 month mission trip with YWAM, leaving January 3rd! A little background, this last year God’s been doing a lot of changes in my heart. I’ve been learning what it means to fully focus on God, making Him the center of my life and surrendering everything that doesn’t fit into His will for my life. Also, as a recurring theme, God has really highlighted to me the importance of music and songwriting in my life. I’d always thought of these as hobbies, but am considering it as a bigger part of my future.
So now I’m going to Kona, Hawaii to be part of their specialized music and worship track called Fire & Fragrance! Now you are probably thinking missions in Hawaii? Yah right! Funny thing, I'm not drawn to tropical climates nor am I a big fan of the beach (mountains are my thing… especially the Sierra’s), but it was clearly confirmed this was the right place for me. One night in August, I was up late seeking God for where I was supposed to go on a missions trip and got a very clear sense Kona was the place for me. Soon after, God confirmed it so clearly through some amazing “coincidences”. A bit more about this base, it is the largest YWAM base in the world and home to University of the Nations. Even better, I’ll be in the music track!
About YWAM, the organization has over 1000 bases around the world and young adults come from all over the world to these bases. The trip is split into two parts. From January to late March, I’ll be in a training school where we learn about God, ourselves, and the chosen emphasis, which for me is music. I will also hear international speakers. From late March to late June, the school splits into smaller groups for outreach somewhere international. Leading up to it, we will be praying for God to guide and confirm where we’ll go. Wherever we go, we will meet and serve people of that country, sharing the love of God through humanitarian work, evangelism, music, prayer, and more.
I know several people who have gone on YWAM mission trips and they all came back changed, more passionate about God, and with an expanded perspective of the world. Through this experience, my heart is to know God better, share His love with others, and grow in my own gifts. I’ll also be experiencing new cultures and have the opportunity to share the love of God with the people of these countries. When I return, I will be completing my BA degree in Public Relations at San Jose State University.
A bit more about my life, over the spring semester, I founded and led a music club at West Valley College to find people who love music like I do to collaborate with. Through the experience, I made some wonderful friends and grew so much in confidence and skill. I’ve felt very inspired lately, writing songs and poems almost daily for months now. Several songs are complete and I have several more that I’m currently working on. I’ve also been a part of the worship team playing keys at my young adults church, Encounter, where over 1000 people have chosen to follow Jesus in the last 2 years! As for where you come in, I’ll be needing prayer supporters and financial supporters. I need to raise $9k total in support. (It’s $3995 for the 3 training months and $5k for the outreach months. $1k has already been raised.) I've adjusted the goal amount on GoFundMe according to the current need as most donations were received via check, cash, or alternate means of payment. I ask that you prayerfully consider financially supporting my trip. Any amount really does make a difference! This is an investment not only in me but in the lives that will be impacted as I, along with a group of others, will share the love of God with as many as we can.
