Shakira & Joel:Disabled Veteran Fights Infertility
Just when we thought that we had already faced enough, we are now encountering the biggest challenge of all time...
My name is Shakira and I am the wife of a disabled veteran who served in the U.S Marines.
Joel and I decided to get married after he got honorably discharged from the military and hoped to start our own family.
We have been trying to conceive for the past 2 years and have had no luck. We were diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” a year ago. Since then, we have attempted 5 IUI procedures (artificial inseminations). We have tried different prescribed medications, treatments and even fertility teas! All which have failed.
According to our doctor, Our next step is IVF (in vitro fertilization), which medication and procedures are not covered by our insurance.
We were hesitant to reach out to our friends and family just because this is such a deep and sentimental topic for us, but we are hoping you can help us achieve this goal so we can go for our first IVF procedure which will give us a chance of a 60-90% successful rate!
