Hello lovely people! As many of you know, I am a sophomore studio art major at St. Olaf College. I love to draw, photograph, printmake, paint, build, explore, experiment, collaborate, and share. I have been a maker since I was born, and I am excited to continue on an artistic path in my future career. I am currently raising money to take part in a month long art program this January with other dedicated art students and our professor in New York City.
On this trip, I will be able to visit not only a multitude of museums and galleries, but the studios of many successful professional artists. Listening to, learning from, and connecting with so many artists in such a concentrated time period may only happen once in my lifetime. In the past, the class has visited outstanding artists such as Chuck Close, Brenda Berkman, Dan Kershaw, Tom Otterness, Sandy Winters, and Andrew Moore, and locations such as Pace Editions, Christies Auction House, and BKSK Architects. I will be exposed to art and artists that I have never seen in a place where I have never been, and I hope to leave with information and inspiration that will help me someday follow in the brushstrokes of these amazing artists. I trust this experience to bring me much closer to the art world and my role within it.
Unfortunately, because I pay for the majority of my educational expenses, this trip will be extra hard on me financially. My parents are helping as much as they are able, but the financial burden is still quite heavy. I do feel confident that this experience is a solid investment in my future as an artist, and I would love any help I can get to propel me forward in the field that I love! I have so much gratitude for my support system and I welcome any donation amount. Even $5 makes a difference. Thank you so so so much.
