Poppy is Returning to Ibiza this Summer!

Tax deductible
Poppy Williams is an author, missionary, and leader in 24-7 Prayer. You may have seen her in the Prayer Course interviewing Pete Greig! While Poppy currently lives in Las Vegas, her heart was left on the shores of Ibiza, Spain three years ago and she is anxious to return. With a long-term goal of living in Ibiza again as a missionary, Poppy will go back to the island this summer to serve alongside the 24-7 Prayer community on the island. Our Western States team will also send a short-term team to help her in September!

Read on to hear the story, donate, and share with all your mission-minded, prayer-loving friends! We want to send Poppy well with all the support and resource she needs to do what God has laid on her heart.

From Poppy:

"In 2009 I went on a short-term missions trip to the Spanish island of Ibiza to work with 24-7 Prayer. I'd been reading about the unique work that was happening amongst the Party Culture on the island, and decided I wanted to get involved.

Ibiza is considered by many to be the Party Capital of Europe. One of the most popular areas of the island is the West End of San Antonio. Mostly popular with 18-30 year-olds, this is where 24-7 Ibiza has chosen to make its home. The area is full of bars, strip clubs, and fast food restaurants.

At night Ibiza can be a wild and dangerous place. The party rages on 24 hours a day, and many people come to the island to experience it all. That includes excessive alcohol consumption, drugs, and prostitution.

24-7 Ibiza does the majority of its work between 11 pm – 6 am out on the streets of this crazy beautiful place.

The goal, through prayer and mission, is to care for the Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual needs of the people that we meet. We do this by…

• Offering to pray with people
• Helping vulnerable people – drunk, drugged, injured, or alone - get to a safe place
• Sharing our faith and stories of God with those who will listen
• Building GENUINE relationships with workers
• Asking God how we can best serve the women who work in the sex industry
• Taking someone who’s been injured to the medical center
• Asking God to lead us to the people he wants us to talk to, and to give us the words He wants them to hear

We also have a center that includes a prayer room right in the middle of all the madness of the West End.

The center is a space to connect with the people we're building relationships with. Lately, it's also been a safe space for the homeless community in San Antonio. They can come grab food from the pantry, use our showers, or even get their clothes washed for free.

The summer of 2022 was unique as it was the first summer the island was fully open since the pandemic. While Poppy was there, the team tried new things, and spent lots of time in prayer, asking for God's vision for what He wants to see in Ibiza. Poppy is anxious to get back to the West End to help put plans into action.

You can help by supporting Poppy this summer! She is in need of one-time gifts to get her flights booked and monthly support to pay her living expenses (rent, food, local transportation, etc). Donations given through the gofundme page will go directly to Poppy. You can also choose to give through 24-7 Prayer West by clicking the link on the Western States webpage: https://24-7prayerusa.com/west/
