Sean Moriartys Spinal Cord Paralysis Fund
Donation protected
In life we just never know what’s around the corner. Today we are reaching out to family and friends for your financial help in support of Sean Moriarty and his family. Sean sustained severe injuries to his spinal cord as well as breaking multiple ribs and puncturing his lung in a ski accident. The horrific incident took place on December 27th while Sean was skiing with his two children Grace and Liam at Mt Snow. He was first transported to the Brattleboro Hospital for medical assessment and then immediately transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon NH. Sean underwent six hours of surgery due to a crushed L1 vertebra in the lumbar spine region. The surgery included realigning his spine and adding 8 screws to support his vertebrae. Due to the extensive nerve damage Sean is currently paralyzed from the waist down. Unimaginable!
After the surgery Sean spent 3 weeks at Dartmouth Hitchcock before being transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown MA. During his first 2 days at Spaulding Sean lost his ability to speak. He was then transferred to Mass General Hospital for a week where he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. To give you some insight as to the severity of this particular diagnoses- There are currently six patients who have been admitted to Spaulding for months with this illness.
Overall, Sean is in good spirits and is working extremely hard every day in physical therapy. He has many more months of therapy ahead of him. His goal is to walk and golf again. If you know Sean at all, you know how tenacious he will be to make this happen.
At this time we need your help. The funds raised will be put towards medical bills that are not covered by insurance, mobility equipment, family support and various modifications to enable Sean to live a fulfilling life. Thank you for your support, prayers and donation. Please consider sharing Sean’s story with your friends and family via email or social media.
