Schuoler/Renshaw Family Flood Relief

Donazione protetta
On March 15, 2019 Jay Schuoler and his partner, Scott Renshaw, was forced to evacuate their home because of the record-breaking floods affecting the Midwest, with Nebraska and Iowa seeing the worst of it. The flood has already resulted in three deaths, washed away bridges and cut off entire towns. Jay and Scott evacuated when instructed and found temporary homes for all their pets. They expected to go home and see the damage that had been done and take care of it. They never expected their home would not be salvageable. Completely under water, they have lost their worldly possessions including clothes, cookware, furniture, books and more, as well as sentimental items such as family heirlooms, antiques and items with a special story attached to them. Most of all, they lost the house they made a home for the past two decades.

Now, let me tell you something about these two men – they are the most compassionate, generous souls I have ever met. When I was battling an autoimmune disease, Jay took me to doctor appointments and dialysis. He gave me a place to stay, the same home that was lost, for free. He cared for my dog when I was unable. He did this without wanting or expecting anything in return. And he always tried to do more, when there was nothing else to do. It is no exaggeration when I say I would not be alive today if it weren’t for Jay and his partner’s generosity and care.

Many other people have experienced the same generosity I have, personally and through their professional and volunteer work. Jay is a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and Scott is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Good Samaritan. Fitting, right? Two good Samaritans who never stop giving, even when they can’t afford to. Jay and Scott amaze me. I want to return their kindness.

I can’t imagine the emotions they are experiencing, literally losing everything except each other and their fur babies, and having to let go of a life they have spent decades building, to start over. Please, consider helping these two wonderful men start over. Anything is appreciated.
