Saving Trees - Minnetonka, MN

We are Mary and Joe Schmidt.
In the winter of 2016 we learned that the City of Minnetonka was planning to cut down 290 mature silver maple and other beautiful trees due to a city watermain project. The entire story can be found on our facebook page Minnetonka Tree Removal Updates
We were able to save 115 of the 290 trees and could have saved more had we been informed sooner. There are methods available to complete a project of this type without clear cutting the landscape.
With only 6 weeks to react we quickly raised public awareness and enlisted the help of attorneys ( needed as the city would not deal with us directly) There was no time to raise funds to help support this effort prior to the event so we chose to cover the upfront expenses out of our own pocket.
We are hoping to raise 14K to help offset the personal expenses.
