I am a professor in central Minnesota, and one of my classes this semester has a focus on social justice. We learned of businesses in our area that are in danger of closing due to a lack of customers since the ICE surge in Minnesota began this year. We have adopted one of those businesses, Tres Pozoles, to try and help with their rent for a few months, as their business is too slow to support staying open much longer. Many of their customers are immigrants who are afraid to leave their homes. We are trying to fund three months of their business rent and maintenance fees, which comes to about $10,000. Our class went to meet with the family that owns the business recently, and they are full of love for their neighbors, continuing to offer discounted meals to veterans, the homeless, and their postal carrier, even while they face closure due to lack of business. We also absolutely LOVE their food, which comes from owner, Francisco's mother's and grandmother's authentic Mexican recipes! If you cannot donate to the campaign, at least go try their amazing Mexican food. Their pozoles (soup/stews) are out of this world, as is their chicken barbacoa, birria tacos, etc! No one we know of has ever had a bad meal there, and it's always served with a friendly chat with the family. Mexican immigrants, and Americans alike, rave about Tres Pozoles' food and the welcoming atmosphere. Let's keep them in Central Minnesota!
