Hello, My name is Everett. I am making this GoFundMe for something very close to my heart - I am trying to keep my family home.
My Granny passed away on October 9, 2025 at 1:55pm, and I worked hard to make sure she went peacefully. She wanted to will the house to me, her youngest Grandson, but passed two hours before the lawyer consultation, so it goes to my mom, her only child. Mom wants to keep it in the family. Granny and I have always been close; she helped me nurture my artistic abilities from day one. Because of her, i have a place to live. But, sadly, this may not be the case for long.
Granny never was super wealthy. She got by on selling her beautiful pottery - a skill she passed on to me. She has a reverse mortgage on the home, which I need to gather money to pay off, or the bank will seize the property. This is the place that HER Granny bought in the 1930s. The place my family has lived in and loved for nearly a century. It would kill me to see it bulldozed and replaced by some brand new shiny modern-style home (which it would have to be if sold - there is asbestos!!) . The yard is beautiful, with fruiting trees and flowering plants that are home and nursery to native insects. The house is small but cozy, and I want to raise a family here like my ancestors. This home is my family's legacy, and I can't lose it. I won't. It breathes life and wonder and hope, and may well be my only chance at having a secure future. I may not have anywhere to live if this does not work out. It is my safe place in a hectic world.
And so, reader, if you have even a cent to spare, please help me maintain this property. Help me secure a future for me, my children, their children, and their childrens' children.
All proceeds made through this GoFundMe will be put into an estate savings account for utilities & such while the home goes through probate as well as saving up to repurchase it up-front from the bank once probate is over. The time frame is uncertain - anywhere from 6 months to 2 1/2 years.
Any amount at all helps, and if you personally can't donate, it would mean everything to me if you could share a link to this page <3
