Sam's wheelchair

My dad has had a rough 7 months!  He was hospitalized back in April after falling several times.  His COPD was making him very ill.  He spent several weeks in and out of ICU.  He was sent to short term rehab and back to the hospital several times.  We almost lost him..

By the time the doctors were able to figure out the correct breathing machine and send him to short term rehab he had completely loss his ability to walk.  He has been doing physical therapy since July and although he's getting stronger AND has lost 60lbs he still cannot walk.  Recently PT cut him off claiming he's reached a plateau.  I am still fighting that decision on a daily basis but it's been 3 weeks now and without going to therapy daily he has to sit in his room all day!  He needs a bariatric electric wheelchair that he can be transferred to easily and get around the facility.  This will help his road to recovery and help him be more independent.  Insurance will not pay for this while he is in the facility only when he gets home but he can't  get home if he doesn't become more independent and trained properly on using this chair.  We just want him to come home and this has honestly been a nightmare for my family.  In addition to the emotional roller coaster there is a huge financial burden. 

I truly need a miracle right now to get him home for Christmas but if I could show up with this new chair and make him a little more comfortable it would be amazing!  The chairs are well over $3000.00 any contribution would help and be so appreciated.
