Running for Barnes
Donazione protetta
Why am I reading this!? (I hear you ask!)
For those that don't know me, I'm Josh.
And this, is why you're reading this:
This is Luke. Luke Barnes.
34 years young. Husband. Father. Friend. and a whole host of other less important words (mainly expletives) that aren't appropriate for a GoFundMe .
Following a diagnosis of a heart condition 3 years ago, Luke's life has changed significantly - culminating in him now being admitted to Royal Papworth Hospital on a permanent basis until he finds a heart donor.
You can follow Luke's story on his instagram:
Why donate, and what am I doing...?
I appreciate now, more than ever, money is tight and hard to come by.
What the price of your daily coffee, takeaway, pack of chewing gum or even your loose change could be the difference between Luke spending a day alone on his ward or having his family by his side.
I'm going to be running a half-marathon every day in January in an attempt to raise some funds for Luke and his family. His wife is balancing work, parenting and commuting to and from Royal Papworth from the midlands and obviously Luke has had to give up his job. In times that are challenging for all, there is clearly an exponential strain on their family. One I hope we can assist with in a small part.
There is already a GoFundMe set up for Luke and his family which goes into detail the journey that Luke and his family are on - that you can find here:
Thank you for reading, and donating in advance.
As little as £1 would be helpful.
You can track my progress through January either on Strava or Instagram at the following links:
Thank you.
