Running the Dublin marathon for uncle Tony

Donation protected

Hi everyone, on Sunday the 30th October, I am running the Dublin marathon to raise money for my uncle Tony.

Tony was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer in October 2019. He underwent a treatment which entailed implanting radioactive seeds into his prostate, followed by months of hormone treatment, an operation and radio treatments. Thankfully this meant that he had his cancer under control.

In July 2022, he went back for a regular check-up and received the heartbreaking news that his cancer had returned and spread to his spine. There was no other option than to undergo a spinal operation. Luckily the operation was successful with no complications. However, the cancer had now also spread to his shoulder blade and head. In August, he started the Provenge treatment, followed by radiation. Last week he started another 6-week course of chemotherapy and is staying strong during his battle with cancer.

Besides dealing with physical pain, nausea and the constant fear of not knowing if the treatments will work, Tony and his wife Gisela have to battle with the cost of high medical expenses in the US. Together with your help, I hope to offset some of these costs.

Tony is a fantastic uncle, husband, son, brother-in-law and so much more. He is kind, funny, caring, and so laid back he is almost horizontal! He goes above and beyond for those he loves and now it's our turn to do the same for him.

I hope running the marathon in less than four weeks will help raise funds for uncle Tony and awareness of prostate cancer. Any support, big or small, is much appreciated.

Thanks again,
Frida
