My name is Ruby and I’m a 2 year old dwarf rabbit. Around 8 months ago, I broke my front paw very severely, a clean break, and I’ve had it in a cast ever since. I was hoping it would heal but after so many months, the veterinarian told my mom there was no longer any chance of the bone healing with any type of splint or cast. My body did all the repair it could, but unfortunately fused the bone together in the wrong way. My paw now gives me severe pain and it’s in my best interest to have it amputated. Bunny bones are notoriously difficult to work with and because of how fragile they are, they splinter easily. The veterinarian has said that rebreaking the paw is not likely to fix it. Since I’m so young, and have maybe over 10 years of life ahead of me, the best option to go forward with is amputation. The surgery costs about $2000, and my mom being a 20 year old student, she has tons of academic debt and no means to pay for my surgery. She’s asking for any help at all to assist with the surgery bill, and I greatly appreciate your prayers and support!
