Row the North Sea - Children Not Numbers
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Colm and I’ll be rowing the North Sea in July 2024 as part of 12 person team. We will be departing from Inverness in Scotland and rowing approx. 650kms across the notoriously wild North Sea, to Stavanger, on the west coast of Norway. We will row in continuous shifts of 3 hours on and 3 hours off until we finish, which is estimated to take 7-8 days.
As a dad of 4 kids, I have found it deeply distressing watching the horrific pictures of kids in Gaza day after day. Its impossible to imagine the desperate conditions that thousands of families and children in particular have had to endure and continue to suffer, being maimed, severely injured and orphaned as well as being desperately ill and hungry. Through this row I hope to raise awareness and much needed funds for a UK NGO, Children Not Numbers, an organisation committed to the health, safety, education and rehabilitation of the children of Gaza.
Their mission is to provide urgent support and long-term rehabilitation for children affected by conflict. Their main objectives are:
- Children’s Immediate short-term medical evacuation
- Optimising in-country medical treatment
- Sustainable rehabilitation support
- Advocacy for children’s rights
- Educational program implementation
- Orphan Support
- Upskilling Junior Gazan Medics
How can you help…
Food Distribution
One food basket for 14 days costs £50. £125 will feed a family of 5 for one month. The distributions are made to sick and injured children so their family do not have to worry about food security during their worst days.
Procurement of Medicine
£500 will cover the cost of medicine and specialist infant milk for sick, premature and/or malnourished babies in Gaza.
Medical Staff
£800 per month will pay doctors who are working in Gaza and provide them will essentials. £600 per month will pay for a nurse and £500 per month for a medical volunteer.
Ambulance Convoys
£3,000 will transport sick and critically injured children to hospitals for treatment or to the border for evacuation.
The donations you kindly make will enable Children Not Numbers to make a meaningful impact on the lives of sick and injured children and their families, as well as the medics that are providing the vital support.
