Rollie “Jim” Christie Medical Bills

Hi, my name is Samantha Bakken, Rollie's daughter. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer with bone metastasis in December of 2016. Over the years, my dad has done chemotherapy and radiation. Even with the chemotherapy and radiation the cancer has continued to progress. Due to the bone metastasis in his left hip, the only treatment was a hip replacement. On August, 23rd he had his left hip replaced in the Mayo Clinic health system in Rochester, MN. The hip surgery went well. My dad was discharged to a rehabilitation center on Friday, August 27th.  He was readmitted on Saturday, August 28th with post-operative complications ( a small bowel ileus and cdiff infection). Over the weekend my dad's health deteriorated. On Monday, August 30th, he was transferred to the ICU and was intubated. In addition to the ileus and cdiff infection, he was diagnosed with ischemic bowel (dead bowel) and toxic mega colon (a life-threatening condition). He had an emergency surgery on Monday, August 30th to remove the ischemic bowel. My dad had to have a second surgery on Wednesday, September 1st to remove the harmful toxic mega colon. In additional to all of bowel issues, my dad's kidney's shut down. For a short time, he was on continual renal replacement therapy (dialysis). At this time, my dad is no longer on dialysis, no longer has a breathing tube and is improving day by day. He is working through some delirium right now but is doing much better over all. My dad has a long road a head of him. After the hospital stay, my dad will need to discharge to a rehabilitation center in Rochester to work on physical therapy and occupation therapy. My family and I would like to fundraise this money to help with his medical expenses. Cancer is an emotional, physical and financial battle, for not only the patient but also the family.
