Robert McMeekin Memorial

Donazione protetta
While my family and I are still at a loss for words, I regret to announce that my brother, Robert McMeekin passed away on June 5th. Robert never had an easy life, but he always loved his family and remained an honorable, loyal brother, a dad that did all he could for his daughters, and kept a positive attitude and would keep the room entertained. He had one of those contagious laughs that was loud and unique. One of the great things about Robert was his honesty, he would be the first to admit his inner struggles and speak openly about them. He struggled with addiction in his final years but still was never a criminal and enjoyed his life even though he was in and out of rehab that my sister attempted to enroll him in multiples times, the streets, and less than ideal studios/apartments. A couple weeks before his death my sister heard a story that Robert saw someone drop a wad of cash accidentally at a store, and Robert chased down after the guy to give him his cash back, although Robert certainly could've used that extra cash. His selflessness and putting others before him was something I truly admire. He would never do anything to hurt his family, and wouldn't come around as much these past couple of years to protect us from his pains, although he would come and check in and see how the family was doing, especially his daughters. I know he would be  extremely upset to know how hurt we are at the loss of him right now.

He was a very personable guy, which he definitely got from my Mom, and would start off sentences with, "To make a long story short," but he could never shorten his stories because he was such a talker and loved conversing with people, especially barbeques with friends and family.  Simple moments like that mattered to Robert, his loyalty to people close to him was unmatched. I always knew he had my back. He was always super proud of anyone's accomplishments and never showed contempt or jealousy. I hoped he would pivot and recover and be the big brother I remember from earlier in life but sometimes life doesn't grant us what we wish for and it just doesn't make sense. However, it makes me happy that I have memories of him that I can look back on and laugh at. His positive attitude, selflessness, and commitment to family despite his circumstances is something I admire, and hope to take with me going forward.  I hope to continue to make him proud and be there for his daughters (my nieces) going forward.

The funds will be used for the celebration of life we will hold for Robert, and for my niece, Shauna, to take junior college classes next year once she graduates from high school. Anything to assist our family would be much appreciated. We love you all.

Best,

James Langford
