Urgent Help For Humanitarian Artist

Donazione protetta

My dear friend, Kevin Mulligan, is a naturally talented self-taught artist, and has been drawing and painting for most of his life. Kevin taught himself the techniques of drawing and painting by observing the works of artists such as Sargent, Whistler and Corot. The Old Masters also have a strong influence on his painting. His use of light and atmosphere are reflective of their influence.

Kevin has always cared deeply for people, and his compassion played an invaluable role in the lives of people he will never know or meet.
He became involved in politics at the age of twelve, volunteering on his first presidential campaign, that of Senator Edmund M. Muskie (D-Maine). At the age of eighteen he was elected to the New Hampshire State Legislature, becoming (at the time) the youngest elected official in the world.
During his time in the New Hampshire legislature, he sponsored and co-sponsored legislation that has benefitted the lives of NH citizens, from the law that required smoke detectors in all new construction to establishing a paramedic program at The NH Technical Institute that has resulted in saving thousands of lives.
He was re-elected twice and when his last term expired he chose to become involved in the MacBride Principles campaign which dealt with equality and fair employment in Northern Ireland.

Kevin re-wrote the MacBride Principle legislation,(which aimed to stop discrimination in employment based on religion) so that it encouraged American investment in companies doing business in Northern Ireland, which created much needed jobs. The legislation that he wrote was enacted in thirteen states in The United States and is a basis for which the National MacBride Principles are drafted. He has been listed in the “Who’s Who in American Politics” since 1978.

After the Macbride Principles campaign, Kevin returned to painting full time.

In 2001, Kevin moved to Ireland where he lived and painted for almost 20 years but returned in 2012 to care for his elderly parents. Jim and Betty were vastly proud of their only child, and it was devastating in every way, including financially, when they both died within a year of each other. Kevin was left with a mortgaged family home and debts that he is now struggling to keep up with.

Though his political and artistic life has been rich and beneficial to so many, Kevin has been unable to find regular employment due to his years of self employment. He needs urgent, temporary help to pay some of his bills and property taxes just to can get back on his feet. So at the very least, he can start painting again.

For as long as I have known him, he has always been one of the first to help out those that need a hand up and the last to ask for help for himself. Now, he finds himself in the position of those he stood for and helped.

Kevin has done so much for the world at large to make it a more fair, just, harmonious and beautiful place.
Please consider donating to his emergency fund. He has told me that he would like to exchange a piece of original artwork for your generous donation

Please consider lending a hand to Kevin, who has helped others in so many ways!

Thank you so much!
