Rick Woodford's Medical Fund

Rick was on his way to work when he was hit by a car around 5:15am Tuesday, August 8th. Rick suffered numerous internal and external injuries.

With heroic efforts from the paramedics, Rick made it alive to the hospital. The injuries were so intense that we were told only 1 out of 100 people would have survived the ambulance ride. Rick was the 1.

They immediately took him into a lengthy surgery to attempt to stop the internal bleeding. After about half a day in the Intensive Care Unit they had to take him back for a second attempt to stop the bleeding. Once the bleeding was at a workable level they were able to diagnose some of the trauma. The current list we have is:

-Extreme internal bleeding
-Transection of the aorta
-Compound fracture of the leg
-Multiple fractures along his vertebrae
-Multiple fractures to the rib cage
-Open book fracture of the pelvis
-Dislocated shoulder
-Necrosis of the intestine (1 foot removed currently)
-Accute necrosis of the kidney

Rick has already been through 4 surgeries in the first 2 days and his will to live continues to amaze the doctors at each and every step. He is currently being monitored very closely in the Intensive Care Unit with his future unknown. There have been a few seconds where he was able to open his eyes and nod his head before a new dose of seditives is used.

His process of recovery will be well over a year and all the proceeds will help cover his medical bills as well as the extensive physical therapy that will be needed. We thank you for any help that you are able to provide and ask that you send thoughts and prayers in Rick's direction. Thank you.
