Richmond District Safety Needed Now!

Dear Richmond District Neighbors,
We are San Francisco Richmond district residents concerned about the lack of safety in our community due to current available police staffing, especially in the overnight hours.
Our neighborhood is home to many hard working, family owned business who are continually victims of theft and vandalism. They cannot keep paying the financial and emotional toll of these events. We rely on these business for shopping, food, services and entertainment in our neighborhood. Many residents and business owners feel like we are on our own
One idea brought about by community discussions is to fund an overnight private security patrol for our various business corridors and areas that connect them.
Such patrols would be staffed by California state licensed personnel with law enforcement experience driving unmarked vehicles. Their roles will be to observe, report and deter illegal activities and hopefully help provide evidence leading to prosecution.
This would complement our Richmond District SFPD officers working the late night shifts and would be in place until such time that proper staffing levels improve. This is in no way a criticism of SFPD as they need our help as well. Our Richmond District is lucky to have such a high percentage of officers who actually live in our district.
Please help us reach our goal to begin these nightly patrols as soon as possible.
